Now, here we have Chitra cloaked in pearl-white robes
Enface Arjuna, her beloved who she hid from so long
“My lord, has the cup been drained to the last drop?
Is this, indeed the end; tell me if I’m wrong.
I brought from the gardens of heaven
Flowers of divine grace and perfect beauty
And now if the rites are done and flowers have faded
Allow me still, to fulfill my duty.

Hark how the lady throws away the cloak
And offers her womanly heart
With all her scars and flaws and marks
She’d sported from the very start.
“If the flower-service is finished, my master,
Accept this servant forever, and after.

She’d sported from the very start.
“If the flower-service is finished, my master,
Accept this servant forever, and after.
I am Chitra. No goddess to be
worshipped,
Nor yet the object of common pity.
I can accompany you to dangerous wars
If you allow me to share your duties.
By the boon of gods I did obtain
Beauty that no human ever wore
But wore you out of redundancy
I am now, who I was before.
Nor yet the object of common pity.
I can accompany you to dangerous wars
If you allow me to share your duties.
By the boon of gods I did obtain
Beauty that no human ever wore
But wore you out of redundancy
I am now, who I was before.
Today I can only offer you Chitra,
The daughter of a king”
Arjuna looked into her witty eyes
“I still see spring
In your warrior- like soul
I take thee Chitra, that ultimate you”
“And now, beloved, my life’s absolute.”
