and in her heart she had drawn,
a picture so vivid and bright,
of their togetherness in future’s light.
Arjun - she had heard this name,
and was well aware of the fame,
that he had received because of his bravery,
she was bound by his love’s slavery.

This prince she in her heart desired,
but all of it had burned in vanity’s fire,
for she had all her life dressed in a man’s attire,
and female values had never acquired.
Although she had trained with hands and bows,
but was not enough to sway the warrior from his vows.

The prince had promised to remain
unmarried,
and told Chitra that her wishes were to be buried,
because their wedding cannot be forward carried.
So she had prayed day and night,
for these gods to appear in sight,
and wished the god of love to take a flight,
and upon Arjun use his godly might,
so that she could be freed of her plight.
