He saw, as they held hands and in the silent street kissed each other. It reminded him of her. It had been so long. A year? No, no... perhaps more. He couldn't remember. The heavens cried over his melancholy - the drizzle ricocheted off the lovers only making it more passionate. He couldn't stand it anymore. He slammed the window so hard that the voice echoed through the nightly street alerting the dreamy lovers. He drew the curtains with an unusual indignation, for a moment it seemed that he would rip it off but fortunately the gods were kind upon it's fate. In the darkness, he sat with the his glowing eyes staring at the mobile. He typed her name in the search-box. Her smiling picture loaded before his eyes. He had missed the smile that spread across her blushing face whenever he whispered sweet syllables in her ears. The green spot beside her name was tempting. He had not talked to her, nor seen her for so long now; he couldn't do it now. He was a sturdy man, a man of his word, a man of principles, a man... but his emotions mellowed down the voice in his head and turned it to an indecipherable mumble. It was too much for him to take, his finger gently pressed against the words - "Video Call". Her face disappeared for a second and shrunk into a little blue cloud. The phone beeped and the words flashed - "Calling Sanjana Venkatesh ... Waiting for her response."
She was a small town girl who, for him was the epitome of innocence and purity. The last time he saw her was when he left the town four years ago with the promise of returning and taking her away with him. She kept waiting but he never returned. And now he was returning, finally. How would she take it? How would she look? What will be her reaction ?
And lo, there was her beautiful and elegant visage. Her dark eyes blending with his heartbeats. She looked as real as she could, as if she was in front of him. Staring at him blankly. She was exactly the way he had fantasized. Her black hair hanging loose over her shoulder, her eyes pouring out a river of pureness. He had spaced out a bit there, but when she opened her mouth and the soft voice spoke through the speakers, it enchanted him. He was spellbound. She took his name. Oh, how he had longed for her to take his name again! She burst into tears, and that, was the first of many nights that they spent looking and talking to each other. That, was the the re-birth of two lovers within him and her who he had looked at that day - in the nightly and rainy street.
