In the past couple of years, during which I was being mentored, the various literary periods were taught to me. Britain had, for that matter, the most clearly defined periods of literature. However, I was pretty gobsmacked when I learnt that there had nothing as such in India, where there has never been a cultural draught. According to me, the reason we've never been able to concentrate on such issues is the smog of political,
religious, social and economical penury that we are surrounded with.
religious, social and economical penury that we are surrounded with.
However, hopeful of getting some answers, I thought of discussing the matter with people who are perhaps far away from such conditions and can afford to mull over such topics.
I've always got immense sense of satisfaction in having such an intellectual conversation. I cherish it. It's a belief that I hold that if you surround yourself with people with more wit than you, you are bound to grow and learn. A major part of reaching your potential includes debates and discussion. If one wants to put across his ideas, it must be based upon a strong foundation. What John did here was to provide a perspective that I might never have had.
That's why I keep repeating, conversations are important!
