I want you to ask a question today my friends, who you would like to, listen to? A voice which just recites the lyrics of a song or a melodious harmony of instruments which stirs our soul? The answer is obvious. Let me not beat around the bush and cut to the chase, how many times has it so happened, that you are a spectator of sinful acts by individuals of our own kind? We, the humans, are at the helm for our own destruction. Even though some of the Good Samaritans of our land strive towards the abolishment of evil from our society, their voices are often watered down by the slumber of ignorance and lack of ambition by the rest. Our society is plagued by a disease my friends, a disease which makes us oblivious to the malpractices which take place in front of our own eyes. We see it and condemn ourselves of being helpless, but never try to rise up and speak for the greater good. We shy away from such opportunities because of the apprehension that people might laugh and tint our image with a tag of shame but one thing we never understand is we’ll never know if we never take a chance. Ask yourself, had the likes of our great and immortal leaders – Bhagat Singh, Gandhiji, Shubhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, or even our contemporary leaders like Anna Hazare had refused to stand up to the evil they had to face, had there been a revolution? A revolt to change the world to a better place?
Today, we find ourselves surrounded by numerous problems. As small of a problem it might be, like bullying, a problem is a problem and needs to be addressed. Even though we are unaffected by some of these, life isn’t just about ourselves, it is about looking above oneself. We must unite for the cause. We must be one, and march towards the road full of obstacles which we will have to face, but at the end of the road awaits the paradise, with true freedom, one which was envisioned by the numerous men and women who sacrificed their life for a free nation. True freedom awaits us. As Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore has rightly proclaimed -
