The True Essence Of Education

Education- one of the most misunderstood term in Indian society. The first thing that pops up into our minds when we think of it, are surely the studies that are held in the schools. It’s the same old story in every part of India. And as if that was not enough, it’s quite often weighed by the digits or the letters inscribed on our report cards. I don’t blame the people who conceive it that way; it’s the way they were brought up. The Letter A with a “+” sign on our report card may make others look up to us as some sort of messiah but at the end of the day what really matters is if we can apply it on our practical lives.
Education does not necessarily mean the knowledge of the black and white prints of our school’s text books, it also includes the small lessons that life teaches us. The way we deal with situations and complexions in our lives highlights the level of education we have attained. Education is the only option a person can think of when they really want to leave their mark upon this world and repay the privileges that our loved ones have always given them. The only difference between those who desire education and those who desire bravado from other people by showing off their academic success is inquisitiveness. A person who truly understands the real sense of education will be someone with a sack full of questions in their minds waiting to be answered. Education is something that can’t be measured; it is beyond the barriers of human quantities.
As a matter of fact that is where we, Indians, are at fault. Other countries realize that education is not only about a student getting good grades and think about their futures only as engineers or doctors. They believe in a more practical approach, they let the student face the world and decide for themselves what they wish to do.  They don’t shape a student’s future; they let student’s future be shaped by themselves. Recently, there have been numerous attempts to bring a reform, bring a change in the mindset of Indian people. Weather it is successful or not? only time shall say but we as students must understand the real value of education , as the famous movie 3 idiot quotes – “If we train a tiger in a circus to jump through a ring of fire , we shall call him well trained , not well educated.”
